Grenache Noir is the second most widely planted red variety in the world. A historic grape of both Southern France and numerous appellations in Spain, this purple-skinned, full-berried variety is a bit of a diva, needing much attention in the vineyard to prevent overcropping and sunburn. Its late ripening rhythm is perfect for warmer growing regions such as the Sonoita AVA.
Callaghan’s Grenache is often the star of the vintage as Kent’s handwork in the vineyards ensures low yields and attention to canopy management. Planted in 2007, the vines are beginning to produce more complexity in the wine as Grenache tends to gain character with vine age.
